1801 Tourbillon

THE DREAM

I had never dreamed of owning a tourbillon watch myself. It felt unattainable. Watches costing over $15,000 were not for people like me. With my 1801 Tourbillon, I wanted to prove that dreams can come true. A genuine tourbillon movement – created with respect for the mechanics and at a price that makes it accessible to more people.

THE DETAILS

The 1801 Tourbillon features a classic 40 mm case, a size preferred by many collectors. The case is finished with discreet, fluted details that add depth and character without detracting from the overall design. It is a classic reference that brings the watch to life in the light and emphasizes its mechanical expression.

The Roman numerals and logo are hand-painted, giving each dial slight variations and a more vibrant, human touch. These are deliberate details that remind us that this is not a mass-produced product, but a watch created with care and respect for traditional craftsmanship.

THE CLOCKWORK

The Borgvardt 1801 Tourbillon is powered by the mechanical Seagull ST8000 tourbillon movement, a living piece of classic watchmaking craftsmanship, where the mechanics are visible and in constant motion. The tourbillon rotates once per minute, adding both technical depth and visual calm to the watch. The movement is manually wound, creating a close, mechanical connection to the watch. The 1801 Tourbillon is limited to only 25 individually numbered pieces and created for collectors who appreciate something extraordinary.

INSPIRATION

The 1801 Tourbillon is inspired by the approach to watchmaking that Abraham Breguet stood for in the early 1800s – an approach where mechanics, precision, and curiosity went hand in hand.

A genuine tourbillon movement is one of the most complex mechanical constructions in existence. It requires extreme precision and craftsmanship, which is why it is reserved for very few watches.

The proportions, Roman numerals, fluted case, and blue hands are deliberate choices that hark back to classic watchmaking. The watch is not designed as a replica of the past, but as my interpretation—combined with modern production methods and finished as a watch that can be worn today.
